Emily Wilding Davison was a staunch feminist who became a martyr to the cause of women’s suffrage when she entered the racetrack during the 1913 Epsom Derby and moved in front of King George V’s horse.
While Emily’s intentions remain mysterious, the horse struck her while galloping at full force.
